We’re making installations faster with our new Virtual Home Visit process

Our new Virtual Home Visit process is more convenient for homeowners, more efficient, and moves projects to installation faster.

In our latest effort to enhance the best customer experience in solar, we recently launched our Virtual Home Visit process. This allows us to review with the customer the engineering design or ‘Plan Set’ within a few business days. We can then move forward quickly by submitting for any permits and ordering the equipment for the installation. The Virtual Home Visit is a simple process that allows us to design and engineer your custom installation faster and more accurately without having to send a technician to your home. The process takes just a few minutes and can be completed entirely on your mobile device.

How is the Virtual Home Visit different?

Historically, after a homeowner decides to go solar, a technician would be sent to the home to conduct a site assessment. The technician would verify the material, measurements and condition of the roof as well as note the locations of things like rafters, meters, and breaker boxes. This information is used to develop an engineering Plan Set.

With a Virtual Home Visit, you conduct your own site assessment, and we use technology to get the exact measurements and do the shading analysis. Our design tool has proven to be more accurate than a human using a tape measure, as it eliminates human error. By sending us a few pictures and simple pieces of information, you give us all the information we need to complete a Plan Set for your review and approval.

Why should I choose a Virtual Home Visit?

The biggest advantage of our Virtual Home Visit, other than accuracy, is that it allows us to get started on your installation faster. With a technician visit, it often takes more than two weeks to complete a Plan Set. With our Virtual Site Assessment, we can have a Plan Set in your hands for approval in as few as five business days.

With the Federal Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC) slated to step down at the end of 2020, the time saved with our Virtual Home Visit is extremely valuable.

The Virtual Home Visit is also more convenient and entirely contact-free. The process takes just a few minutes and can be completed at your convenience – no scheduling an appointment or waiting for a technician.

What information do we need?

The Virtual Home Visit consists of just six simple questions and eight quick snapshots of your home. You can complete the process in just a few minutes from your mobile device. We’ll take the information you send us and, using industry-leading technology, engineer a Plan Set much faster and even more accurately than using the typical technician visit process.

*The Virtual Home Visit is not available in all territories. Also, in all markets, we are happy to accommodate homeowners who are unable to complete the Virtual Home Visit for any reason.
